The aim of the registry is to record sudden cardiac deaths during leisure-time and competitive sports. Personal data like name or address of the deceased athlete are not registered.
Cantonal Institutes of Forensic Medicine can access the database using a password-protected account. They can specify circumstances and causes of sudden athletes death.
Relatives of the victims, athletes, coaches, spectators, and journalists have the possibility to report cases. A short questionnaire concerning the circumstances of sudden death has to be filled out. Sports journalists have the option to send a report of the event by email.
